o  Earnest money is cash the buyer puts up to showthey are serious, “in earnest,” about buying the house. We generally like tosee at least 1% of the purchase price put up as earnest money. Earnest money isdeposited with the escrow company; if the buyer cancels for any reason notexplicitly allowed for in the contract, the earnest money may be forfeited anddelivered to the seller.
